About the project
This private residence is a 3000-square foot private home with attached garage in Teton County, Idaho. The building and site integrated natural qualities through form and design, highlighting quintessential local landscape elements. Architectural design showcases mountain views and backyard landscaping at once, combining built-in planters, walkways, and multi-level landscaping to create an indoor and outdoor environment.
The home is located near Teton Creek and is surrounded by a Special Flood Hazard Area and riparian corridor. Mature trees and vegetation were preserved as much as possible to create privacy for the home while providing habitat for moose, elk, mule deer, migratory birds, and other animals.
How we did it
Harmony provided site planning, water resources, and landscape architecture services for the residence, creating a harmonious balance of hardscape, stormwater features, and preservation of existing vegetation. Our landscaping plan situated native and ornamental plants to emphasize the architectural components of the home and unique site characteristics and included detailed irrigation system performance minimums for maintenance of the property.
A floodplain development permit was also provided, which required schematic designs to determine base flood elevation, and Elevation Certificates prior to, during, and post construction. A grading plan with two integrated sump pump wells was designed to protect the home and property from seasonal groundwater level rises.
